NEW Resource: 40 Days of Prayer

Love to Pray

Based upon the book Love to Pray written by Dr. Alvin VanderGriend, this program provides the book, a study guide and DVD lessons taught by some of the most respected prayer leaders of our day, including Henry Blackaby.

The simple approach of 40 Days of Prayer makes it the perfect study for small groups. It provides a biblical foundation for the importance of prayer for the individual, the family and the church. The common focus of the program helps deepen and enrich prayer lives for all who participate.

The 40 Days of Prayer initiative is designed to help churches become “houses of prayer.” Prayer is meant to be the very heart and soul of every congregation. Scripture makes prayer the priority of the church. The Lord said, “My house shall be called a house of prayer for all peoples” (Isa. 56:7, RSV; see Matt. 21:13). The Bible sets this high standard for prayer: “Pray in the Spirit on all occasions with all kinds of prayers and requests . . . and always keep on praying for all the saints” (Eph. 6:18).
Here’s how 40 Days of Prayer works. Members of the congregation use Love to Pray to deepen and strengthen their personal prayer lives. At the same time the church plans sermons, small group opportunities, education classes, and prayer activities for 40 days around the themes of "Love to Pray". After the 40 Days of Prayer the church initiates ongoing prayer ministries that build on the prayer foundations that have been laid.
